Damage risk assessment of building materials with moisture hysteresis

Abstract Heat and Moisture Transfer (HMT) simulations are used to evaluate moisture related damage risks in building envelopes. HMT commonly performed accepting the hypothesis of not considering hysteresis materials. The results simulation a timber wall with presented, compared three simplified models, showing effects on assessment risk decay. content is most influenced variable, while temperature relative humidity slightly affected. wood decay analysis using 20% rule. Similar values calculated as annual average have differences up 2.3%. obtained models could be overestimated if desorption curve, it underestimated adsorption curve. best approximation mean sorption curve calculate upper lower boundary contents respectively.
